Spring & Summer Fishing
Test your fishing skills in the myriads of rocky bays, sandy coves, reefs and weed beds. We offer you an excellent opportunity for diversified fishing. Walleye, one of the most sought after fresh water fish due to its unsurpassed eating quality, are abundant in Lake of the Woods. Looking for hard fast action? Try your hand at Northern fishing. These aggressive fighters commonly top out at 20 pounds or more. Try any of the reefs and weed bed lines for lots of action. Yes we also have the King of freshwater fish. The Muskie with its hard fight and large size are waiting for anyone who dares to throw a lure into its domain.
Fall Fishing
The Islands of Lake of the Woods provide sheltered waters and excellent fishing holes. Of course Walleye fishing is king no matter what season. The Fall is a great time for catching Smallmouth Bass and Muskie. Fall Foliage is at its peak in late September.
Winter Fishing
Winter brings a special time and a whole new world to the North Country. Lakes once warm and wet, turn into a frozen expanse of ice thick enough to support cars, trucks, snowmobiles and of course, ice fishermen. Sportsman's Oak Island Lodge remains open all winter (December to March) to serve you. Our Winter ice fishing is like no other. We pick you up in a comfortable heated bombardier and transport you to your heated fish house. The fish house is setup with drilled holes, poles chairs and benches, light and heater to keep you cozy. We pick you up in the same fashion at the end of the day and take care of cleaning, packaging and delivering your fish right to your cabin. Our fishing grounds are within two miles of the lodge. The houses sit over a large rock reef. This reef holds and produces fish all winter long.
